Hello and welcome to my swim blog!
My mom took me to my first swim lesson at age three. After conquering an intitial fear of the deep end (the promise of a new Barbie doll was a key motivating factor back then), I’ve spent much of my life water logged with various teams (age group, academic and now masters), competing, and generally obsessed about where and when I can swim next.
There are many reasons why I love to swim, but keeping me endlessly amused is one of the keys. There’s so much “room” in the sport — ways to improve technique, different training approaches, new experiences to try and people to meet, and so many more pools and open bodies of water to swim in. And that’s just the short list!
I don’t have a plan or theme beyond “sharing thoughts about swimming” for this blog. Expect a topic range of technique, strategies, nutrition, training, health, humor, memories, probably a few rants, and much, much more as I go about my training and competitions. I do hope however, that swimmers of all ages and abilities will benefit from and enjoy this blog!
Until next time…Rebecca, “the swim evangelist”
